Local Area
The Erlenhaus property is situated in Obersasbach, at the foothills of the Black Forest mountains, and is part of the beautiful holiday region Sasbachwalden.
Around the house
Immediately behind the house, the main industries are wine-making and fruit-growing. There are some wonderful walks through the vineyards, including a series of ancient watch-towers where you can enjoy a picnic or climb the steps to get a breathtaking view of the Rhine valley. A ten minute steeply climbing drive up the road outside the gate takes you right into the heart of the vineyards and further up into the Black Forest. In the forest itself there are some lovely old towns with traditional architecture and sometimes their own breweries.
There's a nice little, good-value restaurant just 2 minutes walk outside the property.
The nearest supermarket with bakery is only 750m away and will provide you with everything you need for your vacation.

If you fancy a visit to France, then its just 15 minutes by car to the Rhine border crossing, where the underground fish ladder is well worth stopping off at. The interesting city of Strasbourg is just another 20 minutes drive. The Europa-Park, Germany's largest theme park, is only a 45 minute drive away.
